According to the Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Education and Examination Regulation:

"Education period and additional exams

ARTICLE 6 – (Amended title: O.G. 20/05/2018-30426)

(1) Students, excluding the one-year foreign language preparatory class, must complete the associate degree programs with a study period of two years within a maximum of four years, bachelor's degree programs with a study period of four years within a maximum of seven years, bachelor's degree programs with a study period of five years within a maximum of eight years, and bachelor's degree programs with a study period of six years within a maximum of nine years, starting from the period in which they are enrolled in the program, regardless of whether they register for each period. Periods of leave and registration suspension are not considered in the calculation of the maximum education period. Maximum study periods are calculated according to the provisions of Law No. 2547.

(2) The following principles apply to students who cannot complete their education at the end of the maximum study periods:

a) At the end of the maximum study period, two additional exam rights are granted to final year students for all courses they failed by fulfilling the attendance requirement, regardless of the number of courses. (Amended: O.G.10/07/2019-30827) Students who cannot reduce the number of courses they need to pass to graduate, including university common elective courses in the program, courses never taken, and courses for which they did not meet the attendance requirement, to five at the end of the two additional exams will have their relationship with the University terminated.

b) One of the two additional exam rights is used after the end of the spring semester exams, and the other is used before the start of the next academic year. Exams are conducted on the dates specified in the academic calendar. The exam date, place, and time are determined by the relevant unit's administrative board. Students who pass these exams are considered successful without requiring a midterm exam grade, and procedures are carried out according to the principles in Article 23, and they are included in the weighted grade point average (GPA).

c) At the end of the two additional exams, final year students who reduce the total number of courses they need to pass to graduate, including courses never taken and courses for which they did not meet the attendance requirement, to a maximum of five are granted an additional period of three semesters.

ç) Final year students who have a total number of courses they need to pass to graduate, including courses never taken and courses for which they did not meet the attendance requirement, of a maximum of five without using the additional exam right at the end of the maximum study period are granted an additional period of four semesters.

d) Students in the situations described in clauses (c) and (ç) take the midterm and end-of-semester exams and make-up exams that will be held during the additional periods granted, and they continue to pay the student contribution fee/tuition fee during this period.

e) Final year students who fail one course at the end of the maximum study period or additional exams are granted unlimited exam rights without benefiting from student rights. During this period, they can take midterm, end-of-semester, make-up, and single course exams.

f) Final year students who have completed the required credits for graduation and passed all courses but cannot graduate due to a GPA below 2.00 and are at risk of termination are granted unlimited exam rights to raise their weighted GPA. Attendance is not required for courses other than practical, applied, and previously untaken courses.

g) Students can only use the unlimited exam right by fulfilling the course attendance requirement. Students entitled to unlimited exam rights must pay the student contribution fee/tuition fee per course they take the exam for and register for courses on the dates specified in the academic calendar. However, these students cannot benefit from other student rights outside the exam right. A student who does not take the exams to be held for three consecutive academic years or intermittently is considered to have waived the unlimited exam right and is terminated from the University."
